Sobre este artículo

London: Jonathan Cape, 1943. First edition. Cloth. Very Good Indeed/Good. 8" by 5.5". Arthur Ransome. A smart first edition of the eleventh book in Ransome's Swallows and Amazons series, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. First edition. Illustrated throughout with mapped endpapers. The eleventh novel in the Swallows and Amazons series. Set in the Lake District, this novel begins as the D's have been invited to stay at Beckfoot for the summer holidays while Mrs Blackett has gone on a cruise for her health. When Great Aunt Maria, unaware of the D's visit, realises the girls have been left at home, she decides to come and take care of them. Written and illustrated by Arthur Michell Ransome, an English author and journalist. In the original green cloth binding. Externally, very smart with minor wear and light fading to the extremities. Original unclipped dust wrapper is worn with light loss to the head of the spine and further loss to the rear panel. Sunning to the spine and the odd small mark. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd spot. Very Good Indeed

Sinopsis

Arthur Ransome was born in 1884. He was in Russia in 1917 and witnessed the Revolution, which he reported for the Manchester Guardian. After escaping to Scandinavia, he settled in the Lake District of England with his Russian wife where, in 1929, he wrote Swallows and Amazon s. Thus began a writing career that has produced some of the best children’s literature of all time.
