Overall, an excellent copy. (352*286 mm). (Tooley 219. Abbey Scenery 192. Prideaux p336. Martin-Hardie p108/9). This spectacular work was the fruit of a two year sojourn by Fielding & Walton in the Lake District. This reflected in the detailed descriptions of all aspects of life in the area, depicting the scenery, history, antiquities, customs and habits of the local people, described in the preface as 'combining a judicious selection from the labours of former writers, and extracts from admired poets, with much new and original material. Title continues: with accounts of antient and modern manners and customs, and elucidations of the history and antiquities of that part of the country, &c. &c., illustrated with forty-eight coloured views
