The textblock is clean with no writing, bookplate, or markings and not BCE, ex-library, or remaindered. Toning strips to endpapers. Pages age-toned. The last two pages are uncut at the top with a small tear. The dust jacket is unclipped ($2.00) on the spine. Quarter-inch closed tear to the top front and an abrasion - not a chip - to the bottom front panel. Protected in a new Brodart Mylar cover. 227 pages. 5¾ x 8¼" tall.
Heywood Broun was an American newspaper columnist and critic, best known for his strong stance against social injustice, and his long-running column "It Seems to Me."
His book, Pieces of Hate and Other Enthusiasms, is a collection of humorous short stories about ordinary instances in daily life. We learn many interesting things about life, such as what it feels like to be a god, and why sometimes it would be a good idea to exchange one's own newborn baby for a better one at the hospital.
