Sobre este artículo

New York: Harper & Row, 1984. First Edition [Stated], First Printing [Stated]. Hardcover. Very good/Very good. Gil Eisner (Jacket illustration). xvii, [1], 171, [3] pages. Chronology. Table. DJ is in a plastic sleeve. Geoffrey Stokes was an author and journalist whose work ranged from politics to sports to music. Mr. Stokes was a staff writer for 17 years at The Village Voice. His books include "Pinstripe Pandemonium," about a season with the New York Yankees. Alfred Manuel Martin Jr. (May 16, 1928 - December 25, 1989), commonly known as Billy Martin, was an American Major League Baseball second baseman and manager who, as well as leading other teams, was five times the manager of the New York Yankees. Known first as a scrappy infielder who made considerable contributions to the championship Yankee teams of the 1950s, he built a reputation as a manager who would make bad teams good. In each of his stints with the Yankees, he managed them to winning records before being fired or forced to resign by team owner George Steinbrenner, usually amid a well-publicized scandal. Recounts the events of the star-packed New York Yankees' 1983 season, a period of unprecedented fighting and controversial incidents featuring George Steinbrenner and Billy Martin. George Michael Steinbrenner III (July 4, 1930 - July 13, 2010) was an American businessman who was the principal owner and managing partner of Major League Baseball's New York Yankees. During Steinbrenner's 37-year ownership from 1973 to his death in July 2010, the longest in club history, the Yankees earned seven World Series titles and 11 pennants. His outspokenness and role in driving up player salaries made him one of the sport's most controversial figures. Known as a hands-on baseball executive, Steinbrenner earned the nickname "The Boss". He had a tendency to meddle in daily on-field decisions, and to hire and fire (and sometimes re-hire) managers. Former Yankees manager Dallas Green gave him the derisive nickname "Manager George"
