SIGNED, Series edition limited to 1,250 copies, [9.5x6.5in]; [11] 12-393 pp., [4] colophon, advertisement, frontispiece image of Bullock, eight illustrations and two maps (one color in rear pocket by National Park Service); Bluish-green cloth covers with silver lettering on front and spine, lettering on front in silver bordered dark turquoise field (and typical of Series), all edges trimmed; Dark Brown dust jacket with mustard and white lettering on front and spine with color image of illustration by George Ottinger of wagon train camp at Chimney Rock, 1861, reviews and acknowledgments on rear cover; Negligible shelf wear to book or dust jacket, signature of Bagely on title page, tipped in prospectus of book and announcement of the Kingdom of the West Series. Thomas Bullock (1816-1885) was born in England, emigrated to Nauvoo, Illinois, and was the private clerk to Joseph Smith. Bullock was part of the inner circle of the Mormon church and and the evacuation plans to relocate to the West after Smith was killed. This his journal from that time to establishment of the settlement at the Great Salt Lake to 1847. William Bagley (1950-2021) was an independent historian of the American West.
