Sobre este artículo

The Centaur Press, San Francisco, 1949. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good Condition/Fair. Illustrator: Zev. Signed by Author. Special Limited Edition, first issue in this format. Size: Octavo (standard book size). Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. This is the first book published by this press. Signed and inscribed by the author to the actor Walter Matthews on the front free endpaper. One of 1000 copies of this book. Brown paper over boards, drawings by Zev, pages unnumbered. Front cover bowed, bumped at head of spine, offsetting from the dust jacket on the endpapers, pages moderately toned. In an illustrated dust jacket that is soiled, chipped at corners, spine ends, along all edges, short tears here and there, three small holes. In a Brodart jacket. "The wry fantasy of this delightful play, written in a poetic idiom both witty and lyrical, probes with an agile irony the follies and hopes of our time. In the precarious playground of grown-ups, anxiety abides, ostriches are homeless, and the right bright balloon has a string attached. The Playground quietly won its author a Phelan Award and received its first production at Mills College. Here in a completely revised new version this deft and provocative work appears in book form for the first time. The many droll illustrations by Zev which accompany the text add their own note of playful perversity to this uneasy frolic through a precarious world." Illustrator: Zev. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: 1 lb 8 oz. Category: Theatre & Plays; Books; Signed by Author. Pictures of this item not already displayed here available upon request. Inventory No: 008265. .
