Sobre este artículo

New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1928. [World War I] [1917] First Edition, hardcover, maroon binding and gilt lettering, untrimmed fore-edge and bottom edge (to give book a sophisticated look), frontispiece, 218 pages. ACTUAL 1917 FIRST EDITION, NOT A FACSIMILE, OR MORE CURRENT REPRINT. Condition: Owner of book said her grandfather had this book and others about France and war locked up in a trunk for several years. As a result, the darken binding has been affected with discolorations, age-toning, and minor chips, mostly because of the lack of air. Edges lightly age-toned. Internally: Old War Library Service Sticker (“This book is provided by the People of the United States through the American Library Association for the Use of the Soldiers and Sailors.”) The sticker has offset onto the first free endpaper. Endpapers are toned, foxed, scattered effects of breakdown in paper. Rear endpapers have some remains of a photo or document once affixed. Several pages of foxing, and two with tiny insect spots. Else overall, Fair. Text is clear and very readable. American author Alan Seeger joined the country of France (his love), took up military arms as a common soldier, and became a common soldier in the ranks of the Foreign Legion. He not only fought for the country, but documented – day-to-day and week-to-week – the miseries of life in the trenches, the exhaustion from long marches, the ennui of inaction, and the battle. The pages address the strain and trial, and the taking part in the mightiest struggle of history. The letters and diary cover the period December 4, 1914 through June 28, 1916. [World War I covered 1914-1918.] Scarce book. Historical. Note: We are a well-established, well-respected, ethical book dealer in business since 1991. We describe the condition of our books thoroughly and honestly, so you'll know exactly what you will be receiving when you order. We ship promptly.. First Edition. Hardcover. Good Plus.

Sobre R. Siedlecki Vintage Books

We are a well-established, well-respected dealer that is professional, honest, and ethical in our business dealings. We tend to describe each book in a reserved, conservative manner, rather than oversell a book or sidestep the responsibility of addressing its flaws. Book club editions and library books along with books without dustjackets (if they came with dustjackets) are pointed out in our descriptions. We describe our books in detail, pointing out the precise condition of each book based on our opinion. It's your assurance that the book we describe is as close as possible to the book you’ll receive. In business since 1991, we typically have five-star ratings on major web sites.
