Sobre este artículo

London: Constable and Company Ltd, 1929. Later edition. Very good.. Inscribed association copy of this collection from the Nobel winning playwright, presented warmly to Alfred G. Arvold, who was instrumental in the US for the development and spread of the "little theater" movement. Arvold was a noted regional theater figure and founded the Little Country Theater in Fargo, ND. This copy is inscribed to him by Shaw at the Malvern Theater, whose yearly festivals were noted for the stagings of Shaw's plays. An uncommonly detailed and lengthy inscription. 7'' x 4.75''. Original beige cloth, spine lettered in gilt. Publisher's ads at rear. 320, [4] pages. Inscribed by Shaw to the half-title: "Inscribed to / Alfred G. Arvold / in grateful acknowledgement of his / services to dramatic art in virgin fields / in the United States of America. / G. Bernard Shaw / Malvern / 29th Aug. 1930." Mild rubbing, soil to cloth.

Sinopsis

One of Shaw's most unusual and enduringly popular plays. With SAINT JOAN (1923) Shaw reached the height of his fame and Joan is one of his finest creations; forceful, vital, and rebelling against the values that surround her. The play distils Shaw's views on the subjects of politics, religion and creative evolution.
