Sobre este artículo

New York: Crown Publishers, A Lear Book, 1948. Near Fine condition in bright, Near Very Good Dust Jacket. Jacket has 2 short closed tears (less than 1 inch) to rear panel and light rubbing at the corners and spine ends. Not a book club edition. No remainder mark. No owner's name or bookplate. Clean, square, tight, and unmarked. Pages are fresh and crisp, probably never read. Publisher's brown cloth with blue lettering on the spine. Originally published as LES PLAISIRS ET LES JOURS. Translated from the French by Louise Varese. Precedes the first UK edition which did not appear until two years later, in 1950. From the Dust Jacket: "Here for the first time in English are those captivating stories with which Marcel Proust first enchanted the literary world. In it are foreshadowed all the major motifs of REMEMBRANCE OF THINGS PAST... The translation by Louise Varese, acclaimed for her sensitive rendering of Rimbaud's SEASON IN HELL and Baudelaire's PARIS SPLEEN preserves the precise and delicate nuances which are the very flavor of Proust's genius.". First Edition in English. Hardcover. Original binding/DJ Not Price Clipped (2.75). Illus. by Jonas (jacket art). 8vo. (ix), 221pp.

Sobre About Books

About Books (Genny and Michael Winne, proprietors, formerly of Parsippany, New Jersey) has been selling rare and OP books since 1985. Besides book fairs and mail-order catalogues, long-time collectors and dealers will remember our lengthy For Sale ads in the Antiquarian Bookman and similar magazines. Our inventory of over 40,000 volumes is especially strong in the specialties listed, but contains fine books in a variety of other fields as well. Because most of our books are stored in protective boxes, rather than on shelves, they cannot be viewed as a whole. If you wish to visit us to examine specific titles, please provide 24 hours notice and we will make them available for your inspection. Phone calls to (702) 750-2722 are welcome, but please, only between the hours of 8am and 10pm (west coast time).
