Ca. 1860.. Lithograph, hand colored, image area approximately 9 x 6 3/4 inches on sheet 11 x 8 1/2 inches. Light soiling at lower margins, just a couple of light spots in image, otherwise clean and bright. This beautiful lithograph of a grebe is marked at top left "U.S.P.R.R. Exp. & Surveys - 47th Parallel" and at top right "Birds - Plate XXXVIII". It was lithographed and colored by Bowen & Co. Philadelphia. .
