Lacking the frontispiece.A truly charming nineteenth century work in which the author Thomas Miller presents 'a resemblance between the flower and the emblem it represents' through short stories, creating 'legends' to demonstrate the way in which individual flowers represent their meanings. With the former owner's inscription of Annie Symonds to the front free endpaper. With sixteen pages of publisher's advertisements to the rear.A delightful work from one of the most prolific English working-class writers of the nineteenth century.  In the original full morocco binding with pictorial gilt detailing.
