Original publisher's green bead-grain cloth with gilt Macmillan emblem on upper cover lettered gilt on spine. Dan Jacobson's copy with his ownership inscription on front free endpaper and his notes, underlining and circling of the text of 'In Memoriam' and a few other poems. Dan Jacobson (1929 � 2014) the South African-born writer, novelist and critic became a professor at University College London. Loosely inserted an A4 sheet of paper with notes written in pencil in Jacobson's hand on the themes of Tennyson's poems (Jacobson's name and address and title of a possible book crossed out on other side) and a photocopy of a poem entitled 'The Halsbury Lullaby [Some way after Tennyson]. Slightly nicked at head and foot of spine, extremities a little rubbed. VG.
