Her Books focus on several well-known German and European personalities including Frederick the Great, Joseph the Second, Empress Josephine, Goethe and Schiller, Napoleon, Marie Antoinette, King Henry and others. Her Books were translated into English by several different translators and published as a set by A.L. Fowle, Publisher, of New York in 1905. This Set was not published with Volume Numbers for each Book. Each Book contains 400-650 pages of text and three to five illustrations.There are 20 Volumes in the complete set. Some shelf-wear to spine ends and corners, and old water staining to back cover, otherwise a good clean tight copy of this hard-cover book. A biography of G A Henty, the popular Victorian author of adventure stories for boys, by an author of similar tales. This was Manville Fenn's final book. Originally published in 1907, this is a ''New Edition'' from 1911. 370pp, 2 b&w illustrations, many of them previously appearing in Henty's novels.. Hard Cover. Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

Usual browning to free end-papers o/w internally near fine. Binding slightly soiled and rubbed, more so on corner tips but a very good copy of the fragile boards.

A Very Good or better illustration of author Bret Harte published in Vanity Fair magazine for July 4, 1879, including the Vanity Fair profile of Harte, being Vanity Fair's "MEN OF THE DAY. No. 191." with evidence of the two pages having been removed from a larger volume which once likely held them. Examples of this original material are surprisingly uncommon to the market. A Very Good or better UNCOMMON piece of Bret Harte literary ephemera.
