Engraved title page and frontispiece of the author. Text in two columns. Block edges are speckled red. Pages have slight foxing, tanning and thumbing. Foxing heaviest on title page and towards start and end of book. Gutters cracked with exposed netting. Text block firm. Frontispiece detached but present, with old tape to edge and heavily foxed. Faint creases to some pages. A few dog-eared corners. Boards have heavy edge wear, with bumping and fraying to corners, while spine ends are worn and rubbed. Leather sections scratched, rubbed and marked overall. Spine particularly rubbed. Gilt is bright. A few dents to rear board. Slightly scratched overall.
