Printed by Ellerton and Henderson. Illustrated with aquatint frontis and five additional aquatint engravings. Half calf ruled in gilt over marbled boards. Gilt title to rebacked spine. Rubbing to extremities; scuffing to boards. One square inch surface scar to front board. Corners scuffed and bumped. New endpapers. Edgewear to margins of Contents page. Unmarked interior; pages bright. Oliver Goldsmith (1728 - 1774) was a well-known Anglo-Irish novelist, playwright, dramatist and poet, who is noted for his novel The Vicar of Wakefield (1766), his pastoral poem The Deserted Village (1770) [included in this selection], and his plays The Good-Natur'd Man (1768) and She Stoops to Conquer (1771).
