London: Oxford University Press/Humphrey Milford, 1940 Book. Illus. by Frontispiece Portrait. Very Good Minus. Leather. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. Original maroon leather with gilt lettering and decoration, and five raised bands. School crest of Havergal College in Toronto in gilt on cover. All edges gilt. Spine is rubbed. Inscription written inside front cover. Front endpaper cracked 1" from bottom edge of gutter and is missing a 2" section at top of gutter. This book was awarded as a school prize in March of 1944 to Margaret Ann Ireland, who went on to become a celebrated Canadian classical pianist and CBC radio producer. She spent her final years living in Saint John, New Brunswick. 698 pp. including Indices..
