This is an over-sized, antique edition of "The Poetical Works of SIR WALTER SCOTT - Including the Two Series with All the Notes and Illustrations." Complete in one volume. 1838; Baudry's European Library; Paris. Beautifully illustrated with numerous full-page engravings and facsimile documents. There are 12 pages of publisher's advertisements at the front (on yellow and blue paper). The book is grouped into two series: First Series, containing Minstrelsy of the Scottish Border, Sir Tristrem, and Dramatic Pieces (with an Index at the back); Second Series, containing The Lay of the Last Minstrel, Marmion, The Lady of the Lake, Rokeby, The Vision of Don Roderick, The Lord of the Isles, The Bridal of Triermain, Harold the Dauntless, The Field of Waterloo, and Miscellaneous Poems (with an Index at the back). The book measures 11" tall x 7 1/4" wide x 2 3/8" thick.

Condition:
Soiling to the covers and spine. The top and bottom edges of the spine are worn down. Heavy wear to the edges of the boards (all cover edges are entirely scuffed). Fading to the label on the spine. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. The pages are in overall good condition with only mild foxing. Ex-library copy with an ID number written in pen near the top of the spine, a label affixed to the front pastedown, and a card sleeve & date sheet affixed to the rear end paper and pastedown. An old newspaper clipping titled "Literary Labors of Sir Walter Scott" has been affixed to a rear blank end paper (in 2 lengthy columns). Cloth tears along the left and right edges of the spine. On the back of the frontispiece is a name/date (1845) written in pen. Overall the book is in Good- condition.
