Knoop lost his job in Frisia designing gardens in 1749 due to his love of a tipple - which was fortunate for us, as it led, through financial necessity, to these lovely works on apples, pears, and other fruits and the final work here on garden design. He describes over 100 apples and 90 pears, as well as cherries, plums, peaches, etc. Pomologia was especially influential. Third editions of all three, ca. 1790; all three titles pages undated.
