Sobre este artículo

London: A. & C. Black, 1910. First Edition. With 20 watercolor plates by Alberto Pisa, 4 black and white photos, and 2 Sketch Plans. The folding plan in this copy is in facsimile. 4to, publisher's original blue cloth lettered and decorated in gilt and pale blue on the spine, lettered and pictorially decorated in gilt on the upper cover. xii, 179; 8 ads. pp. A well preserved copy, the text-block and illustrations all in good order, some evidence of age or use primarily at the spine panel and tips. FIRST EDITION. The book describes in detail the history, evolution, and daily life of Pompeii. The color plates accompanying the text are quite beautiful. The entire city is discussed including the layout of the streets, the architecture, the art, the public buildings including the Forum, the theatres, and the temples. Each of these subjects is treated both from an archeological and sociological viewpoint, emphasizing how life must have been lived within the town and its buildings.
The reader appreciates the growth and development of the city and how it related to Roman history as well. A WELL WRITTEN HISTORY WITH HANDSOME ILLUSTRATIONS.
