New York: The Heritage Press. Fine. 1964. Hardcover. Each of the twenty-six issues of the American founder's legendary periodical are reproduced in this special Heritage Press edition. Displaying Benjamin Franklin's wit and wisdom, these issues were very popular in the American colonies. In a prefatory note, the editors explain that material not authored by Franklin has been omitted from this edition. With the pseudonym of Mr. Franklin (Richard Saunders, or "Poor Richard") represented on title page. Includes illustrations in both color and black & white by Norman Rockwell, and with an introduction by Van Wyck Brooks. With translations of foreign aphorisms and end notes at rear of volume. Sandglass leaflet laid in (New York, no. XIV: 29). --- A sizeable quarto, about 12 inches tall. In tan buckram covers w/blindstamped signs of the Zodiac pattern on cover; gilt-stamped titling on spine. --- A bright, tightly-bound, complete copy lacking apparent damages. Excellent slipcase with light sunning; is structurally sound.
