Sobre este artículo

[Hanover, New Hampshire]: The Hopkins Center, Dartmouth College, 1972. Unbound. Fine. Poster. Measuring approximately 19¼" x 28". Shrinkwrapped onto foamcore. Unexamined out of shrinkwrap but appears fine. Inscribed to John Szarkowski: "John Szarkowski / Incredibly keeping it up / Affectionately, Walker 1972."

Walker Evans was a 1972 artist-in-residence at The Hopkins Center. This poster was issued in an edition of 100 sig ned and numbered copies as a 10th anniversary edition of The Hopkins Center; this copy is unnumbered, presumably one of a group given to Evans to distribute. While the association needs little explanation it is worth noting that the previous year (1971), The Museum of Modern Art mounted a major retrospective of Evans' work, featuring 200 images, and Szarkowski wrote the catalogue introduction. The exhibition is credited for causing a "rediscovery" of Evans' work. While the catalog for this exhibition is fairly common, the poster appears not to be. We locate no copies in OCLC or the trade.
