Bernarr Macfadden (1868 - 1985) was an early proponent of exercise, health and physical culture who published a number of books and magazines as well as engaging in promotional displays and health retreats. This is one of his earliest publications; he addresses problems that many women of his era faced (Curse of Prudishness, Corsets, Tight Skirts and Shoes, Play, Exercise, air baths, etc.) and offers solutions for improving health that primarily center on diet and exercise. Includes a number of b&w photos of women performing various exercises as well as examples of women who could benefit from various exercises. An interesting early work on this topic. Original brown cloth covers with white spine lettering. The spine lettering is worn but legilbe. else a nice clean, tight and unmarked book with no interior or exterior markings. No dust jacket, as issued.; B&W Photographs; 12mo 7" - 7½" tall; 277 pages .
