Based on Styles's Regestrum Practicale (1657) and a standard reference during the eighteenth century, Lilly's Register is divided into two parts. The first deals with conveyances. (The information is arranged under 36 alphabetical headings from "Assignments" to "Uses."). The second is a collection of precedents. As Holdsworth points out, "they are a varied collection, since they include, besides the ordinary conveyances of interests in real property, a settlement of stock, the assignment of a debt, compositions with creditors, an agreement between a high-sheriff and his under-sheriff, and agreement betwee.
