Rubbing to the extremities and to the joints and some scuffing to the boards. The contents are very good with some foxing (particularly in the early pages) and soiling to the edges. Overall, this is a very nice copy of Nisbet's wonderful, exhaustive treatise on food, drink and how to use it to our best advantage. He was a qualified doctor. Having trained in Aberdeen, he then practised in London and wrote a number of books for the medical professional as well as the general reader. This book contains a detailed description of (seemingly all) the foods that we eat judging them according to their chemical or biological qualities and their general healthiness. It is still remarkably useful even today.
