Sobre este artículo
GILLMORE, Parker. Prairie Farms and Prairie Folk. London: Hurst and Blackett, 1872, 1st ed. 2 vols. iv,321;iv,282pp. Frontises, title page vignettes. Orig. blindstamped cloth. Fine. Gilmore visited the United states at an early age, and determined to return as soon as possible, so favorable were his first impressions. His purpose in settling down his later impressions, as stated at the beginning of his book, was "to gratify a longing for adventure and amusement in a country which experience had previously taught me most likely to be prolific in the objects I desired to attain." Gilmore relates only his personal experiences, chiefly set in Illinois and Indiana, discussing the changes that had taken place between the time of his first visit and his later one, and describing as much as he can of the manners and places he had observed.
