Otherwise, the inside pages are clean and unmarked overall. Six essays by Dean Harris, which originally appeared in the journal Archaeological Reports. Includes: Earth's first man -- The ape man -- The pre-Christian cross -- Primitive civilization of the American Indian -- Practice of medicine and surgery by the Canadian tribes in Champlain's time -- The mystery of a land that disappeared. Reverend Harris was a Roman Catholic priest who had an interest in prehistoric peoples, fostered by Canada's first professional archeologist David Boyle. Harris wrote these articles with regard to how Christian belief fit into the scheme of human evolution. .
