Sobre este artículo

New York, NY: Doubleday Publishing, 1999. Trade Paperback. Very Good. First Edition. Advanced Reading Copy (ARC). 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Collectible. Hackworth (Hazardous Duty: America's Most Decorated Soldier Exposes the Real Truth About the U.S. Military), a distinguished and decorated former army colonel, presents his first novel. A story of deceit and corruption ranging from Vietnam to the present. The book's hero is Sandy Craine, a young army captain bent on clearing his father's name. But what begins as Craine's personal journey soon gets political and treacherous as he and his ally at the Washington Chronicle begin uncovering a decades-old conspiracy. Hackworth tells a story that is both exciting and raw, even brutal, with a high body count. And although his dialog is often painfully terse, in the end this is a strong story by an author whose reputation and expertise guarantee a wide readership among those who enjoy modern military fiction. - From Library Journal. If you like lots of action and adventure, fast-paced plots and sub-plots,and interesting and well-developed characters, then The Price Of Honor -- Hackworth's first work of fiction -- should go to the top of your reading list. With a golden name and a platinum future, Army Special Forces Captain Sandy Caine was born to be a soldier. The latest in an eight-generation line of Caine men to serve Duty, Honor, Country, Sandy's character has been hammered out on an almost flawless anvil of military tradition. But one bad apple did fall from the Caine family tree. When he cracked under fire in Vietnam, Sandy's father, Alex, dishonored the long grey line. And ever since his Spartan childhood, Sandy can't help brooding about it. Little does Sandy know that the truth of what happened to his father has transformed into a 30-year legacy of deception perpetuated by the Beltway's most powerful players. If you like good military tales, this is for you! Col. Hackworth writes with an very interesting and realistic tone. He continues to describe the life of the 'soldier' and how difficult it is for a miliatry mind to exist in a bureaucratic political world. Battle scenes are realistic and draws the reader into the action. Hackworth's characters are believable. 596 pages. Some heavy rubbing on top & bottom of spine. Top rear edge of spine has 1" long rubbed so the cover coating is peeled but still attached. The rear cover bottom left corner is rubbed so it's missing the 1/4" tip..
