Sobre este artículo
The Detective Book Club produced volumes of three crime novels from 1942 to 1999. Originally monthly, near the end they dwindled down to just a few per year. Many famous detective and crime novelists had their early works featured in DBC editions. Often, books were published in DBC editions before, or at the same time as they were published in mass market form. A little about our authors:
Hugh Pentecost: A pen name of Judson Philips, a man of many detectives. Under both names, Philips published over 100 books, most of which were in one of eight different series. The largest series featured Pierre Chambrun with 23 books. In spite of all these series, almost a quarter of his books were stand-alone novels. This is the fourth of seven Uncle George novels.
Jane Langton: Langton wrote over 30 novels, including three series. These include the Homer Kelly series, with 18 books, the Hall Family series, with 8 books, and a two book series (separated by 11 years) featuring the character Grace Jones. Langton also produced four stand alone novels and some children's literature as well. Langton died in 2018. The is the fifth Homer Kelly novel.
Noah Webster: This is another pen name used by Bill Knox. Knox wrote under his own name and three pen names. He wrote two detective series under his own name, the Thane and Moss series (25 books) and the Webb Carrick series (15). There were three other series which he published under the name of Robert MacLeod, totaling another 22 books. He also wrote 12 stand alone novels. Knox died in 1999. Although the DBC edition lists the Webster name, some references show this story as being written under the Robert MacLeod pen name. Either way, this is the ninth of eleven novels in the Jonathan GAunt series.
