Ex-Library Hardcover 1906 Retired Library Book in Good Condition. No Jacket. An older book, nice, worn, small, thick, with a fascinating story. The author was a minister to Turkey thus his intimate knowledge of that part of the world. Brown cloth binding w/ gilt titles; panels and edges rubbed, bottom front corner has dark smudge, spine has slight lean. Corners rounded. Sewn binding tight and solid. Pages clean, no underlining, no highlighting, no writing, moderately toned. Brown endpapers book-taped reinforced at hinge. There is residue left on the back paste-down from a library pocket and a lib. number on spine. This is a lesser known work by the author of Ben-Hur; he served as governor of the territory of New Mexico and as a U.S. diplomat as minister to the Ottoman Empire. Lew Wallace, 1827-1905. 578 pages w/index. 6.75 x 4.5 inches. 1906, Harper & Brothers, New York and London.
