Spine with gilt lettering over green label. Marbled edges and endpapers. The book is an edition of Tennyson's "serio-comic blank verse narrative poem", originally published in 1847. "The poem tells the story of an heroic princess who forswears the world of men and founds a women's university where men are forbidden to enter." Covers with sunning and rubbing to edges, as well as some minor scratching and smudging. Hinges of spine rubbed. Interior with ex-libris pasted on at interior front cover. Foxing to front and rear free endpapers, as well as half title. Binding in good-, interior in overall very good condition. Several later works have been based upon the poem, including Gilbert and Sullivan's comic opera Princess Ida.
