Small 4to (9 ½" x 7 ½ "); 56pp; glazed color pictorial boards, yellow lettering and vine decorations, illustration of two fairies riding flowers towed by butterflies on the front, butterflies pictured on the rear; edges stained yellow; endpapers feature a white line drawing of fairies on navy background; small line vignettes on half-title and fly-leaves in sepia; color vignette on title page; color fp; 5 full-page illustrations, illustrations in sepia and color every page with text; light scattered foxing; near fine. (Baumgarten p126). The illustrations by Richard Doyle were originally published in In Fairy Land: A Series of Pictures from the Elf-World with a poem by William Allingham in 1870. (OCLC 9045532) Scarce in this condition.
