NY: Fowlers and Wells, Publishers, [1838] 1855. From the 7th Edinburgh Edition, Enlarged and Improved. Hardcover. Very Good. 6 1/4 x 9 inches. Dark brown blind-stamped cloth, light edge wear, more so to the head and tail of spine; clean, spine gilt stamping dulled. A firmly bound copy. Former library volume with no external markings, plate on the front paste-down ("Rules"), removed due slip (front fly leaf); rear end page removed due slip and rear past-down page has a pocket; ink number on Preface page, author's name underlined on the title page. Otherwise, this volume is clean, unmarked, bright paper with light age toning to the printed text (margins are bright and unaffected). Includes 5 woodcuts. Also includes, according to the title page, a "Notes and Observations" by O. S. Fowler, which apparently is actually the Preface to the book. In the back of the book are advertisements printed on separate paper, smaller format and bound in: Four pages each: Works of Phrenology / Works on Water-Cures / Works on Physiology (12 pages total).
