Sobre este artículo
New York: D. Appleton and Company, 1894. Hardcover. Near Fine. Attractively rebound is black leather. Gilt lettered spine, headbands and new endpapers. Minor scuffing. Pages are square, clean and, aside from a small physician's rubber stamp in the margin of one page, unmarked. pp. xvi, 1079, plus [6] ads and Appleton's 8 page October 1894 catalog of Medical and Hygienic Works. A very nice first edition (third issue) of William Osler's enormously influential medical textbook. Osler, a founding professor and the first Physician-in-Chief at Johns Hopkins Hospital, wrote his textbook in 1891 in what is now known as the Osler Textbook Room, located in the Billings Building (the original hospital). The Principles and Practice of Medicine literally changed the face of the medicine and was to remain the world's most significant medical textbook until the late-1920s.
