Sobre este artículo
松本旻. [Matsumoto Akira].. Limited edition #5 of 30.. 1967.. Striking silkscreen print. Minor light crease at lower margin but generally very good. 72 x 64 cm. Signed, numbered and dated 1967 print by prominent Japanese artist Matsumoto Akira (1936 - 2020). Matusmoto trained as a woodblock printer in Osaka in the 1950s, and later moved to Tokyo where he worked with ukiyo-e publisher Watanabe Shozaburo. He developed his own experimental printing style using combinations of woodblock printing and newsprint, and later focuing increasingly on silkcreen printing. This is one of a number of prints of female figures produced by Matsumoto in the late 1960s. It depicts profiled standing female figures against a striking abstract background of red, yellow and blue stripes. Matsumoto's work is held by a number of institutions internationally, including the British Museum and the Los Angeles Country Museum of Art. .
