Sobre este artículo

New York : Curt Valentin, 1945 Complete folio of 40 Paul Klee prints, plus string-bound book by Soby (1906-1979, who was an author, critic, connoisseur, collector and patron of the arts), housed in a black cloth chemise. First limited edition of 1,000 unnumbered copies. Condition notes, the prints: 40 individual prints, 8 in color, lt toning, slightly more at edges. Beautifully documents the evolution of Klee's style. Condition notes, book: string spine, paperback with narrow French flaps, xv numbered pages; includes 5 plates, a list of the folio prints, and a catalogue of all of Klee's prints. One instance of pencil marginalia in the book (easily erased). Condition notes, chemise: black cloth over boards with folding flaps inside to enclose the folio, pasters to front and spine; faint label residue to tail, several ghosts, spine paster well-toned, with narrow chips to its leading edge. Ex-library from the Philadelphia Museum of Art, a bookplate with "withdrawn" stamp to inside of chemise, plus the faint label residue the only evidence. This set donated to the Museum by Carl Zigrosser, the Art Prints Curator of the Museum 1941-1963, who helped establish many American artists, was a highly regarded authority in prints that raised the public's awareness for graphics as a serious art form, and who wrote 3 authoritative books on the topic. Photos shown are not exhaustive, but exemplify the quality and variety of the folio. Scarce to find a compete set.
