A nicely bound limited edition copy of Eric Linklater's war satire 'Private Angelo', with illustrated endpapers by David Gentleman. A limited edition work, limited to two thousand copies. 'Private Angelo' is a war satire novel. The novel follows the adventures of an Italian soldier during World War II, beginning with the Italian armistice of 1943, looking at Angelo as he tries to regain control over his life during the war. Written by Eric Linklater. Linklater was a Scottish novelist and poet. He also wrote a memoir about his experiences in the First World War, 'Fanfare for a Tin Hat'. He also published 'Juan in America', 'The Wind on the Moon', 'The Impregnable Women', and more. With colour illustrations endpapers by David Gentleman. Gentleman is an English artist who is known for his work in engraving and lithography. He is best known for his platform length murals at Charing Cross underground station. In the original publisher's paper covered boards. Externally, smart. Light marks to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Near Fine

Sinopsis

Private Angelo was written by Scottish author Eric Linklater and first published in 1946. It had subsequently been made into a 1949 film of the same name by Pilgrim Pictures, produced by and starring Peter Ustinov as well as adapted for the stage by Mike Maran Productions. The novel covers the (mis)adventures of an Italian soldier during World War II.
