Association copy: on the front free endpaper is the signature of the noted Henry James scholar, Elsa M. Nettles. In her 30 years on the faculty of the College of William and Mary, Nettels was honored by the Phi Beta Kappa Society's Faculty Award for the Advancement of Scholarship and College's most prestigious award, The Thomas Ashley Graves, Jr. Award for Sustained Excellence in Teaching.
