How 'America' was written by Dr. Smith. Dr. Smith's residence at Newton Centre. Reception Committee of Eighty-six, and Executive Committee." Commemorative brochure honoring Samuel Francis Smith, who wrote "America." (The song served as a de facto national anthem until 1931.) 200 x 175 mm. 32 pp. Blue stapled wraps. From private collection. Wraps show minor wear included small split along heel of spine. Pages remain clean and unmarked.
