Scarce vintage report from the Interdepartmental Student Project in Systems Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Spring Term, 1967. Supposing that the four billion ton asteroid labeled 1566 Icarus was going to collide with the earth, MIT professor Paul Sandorff asked his students to create a plan to prevent the collision. The plan was the inspiration for the 1979 film Meteor. Illustrated with diagrams.
