Argentine (Strassburg), Joannem Knoblouch (Knoblauch),1508. 4º. Bound in well-preserved contemporary full pigskin over wood. Profusely blindtooled with rolls and ornamental stamps. Spine with 3 raised bands. Original brass clasp and catch. Light spotting to front cover. On top of front cover clalligraphed in ink: "Psalm". Ff (4) + Ff CXXVI + F (1) + last blank (lower righ of the blank has lost a part of the paper). Title-page printed in red inside vertikal woodcut borders and with a large woodcut depicting King David playing the harpe. The following three leaves (Calender) printed in red and black. The woodcut initial "P" in "Psalterium on title-page rubricated. Large rubricated woodcut initials. The first in different colours of gold, red and blue. One initial unfinished. The Latin text surrounded by the German text on each page. Printed on good heavy paper with broad margins, clean and fine. A fine and exellent example of a work from the famous Knoblauch-Press in Strassburg, being an early printed psalter completely in the incunable-style. AdamsB1368.-Darlow-Moule,4186.-GraesseV,481.
