The Pulpit Commentary: Complete 51 Volume set

51 volumes of an early printing of Rev. Canon Spence & Joseph S. Exell's 'The Pulpit Commentary' published 1903 or earlier. 50 of these 51 volumes came from a single collection. Each of these books were sticker stamped the name of the owner, book number(starting with Genesis No. 189, Exodus 190 & so on) location(Scott, Kansas), the price($.75) & the date, April 14, 1903. This is the only date I can identify in this set, the Title page(s) do not indicate 'New edition' like many sets published after 1903. Genesis is the only book not from the original set & it has the same title page indicating it is not a 'new edition' and fits in materially with this set. The black clothbound hardcover books are in overall solid, sturdy condition with negligible shelfware & cornerwear. Pages contain notes & underlining along with ephemera left in the pages throughout the years. The only two exceptions are Romans & Revelations. Revelations is an ex-library book that has taken more of a beating & contains library stamps. There is more wear on the spine than the others but sturdy & complete overall. Romans has a major ding on the bottom of the spine that has ripped about 2" of cloth which still remains; otherwise serviceable.
