Sobre este artículo

[London]: Dean [and Son], 1936. 8vo oblong (9 5/8" x 12 ¾"); stiff color pictorial wrapper folded in the center without binding, printed both recto and verso; 2 color pictorial leaves folded in the center and printed one side only, laid-into the wrapper; color half-tone printing; light scuffing of edges and corners; near fine. An interesting and historical paper toy model of the Cunard-White Star Line ocean liner RMS Queen Elizabeth. Launched on September 27, 1939, the Queen Elizabeth sailed a regular luxury passenger route from Southampton, England to New York City via Cherbourg, France. Its port of registry was Liverpool, the headquarters of the shipping line. No date appears for the publishing of the Cut-Out Book, but presumably, it was printed early in the life of the ocean liner, as it celebrates its construction and includes a paper model of a crane. Colorful ship parts, a jetty, crane, and warehouse are printed on stiff paper stock with instructions to cut, fold, and paste the parts to make a 3-dimension model of the ship.

Dean and Son was London based publisher first established around 1790. During the 19th century, they published many children's books and became known for their production of toy and movable books. Odham Press purchased the firm in 1921 with the retirement of the Dean family, and continued the imprint until the present.
