Front gutter cracked but binding firm. half leather boards have gilt lettering aned maple-leaf logo for Queen's Own Rifles of Canada.Leather stripped from spine, so price reduced. Ottawa, Canada: E.L. Ruddy, 1903. First Canadian Edition . Hardcover (with Dust Jacket). Very Good. large 8vo (84 pages; illustrated with black and white photographs; decorative initial capital letters in each chapter). This is a very good copy of the First Canadian edition without dust jacket as issued. PRESENTATION COPY inscribed on the flyleaf in ink by the regiment’s commander, Lt. Col. S. Maynard Rogers, and dated 8 July, to the 5th Massachusetts Volunteers. The book has been given a new spine; the hinges have been repaired. The corners of the cloth cover are slightly worn, and there is a faint damp-spot on front cover. Contents fine and include period advertisements from Ottawa-area businesses. The Forty-Third Regiment served in the Fenian Raids, the Northwest Rebellion and the Boer War.
