Sobre este artículo
Edinburgh / London: Printed for Archibald Constable and Co. and Hurst, Robinson, and Co, 1823. First Edition, First Issue. Original Binding. Very Good.. Octavo. Binding measures: 20.2 cm c 12.2 cm, 3 volumes: 1) - half-title, verso blank, title-page, verso printer's imprint, Introduction [i]-lxiii, verso blank, fly-title, verso blank, [3]-273, [274-276] blank; 2) - half-title, verso blank, title-page, verso printer's imprint, fly-title, verso blank, [3]-331, verso blank; 3) - half-title, verso blank, title-page, verso printer's imprint, fly-title, verso blank, [3]-360. Bound in original publisher's blue/grey paper boards, brown paper spines with printed paper spine labels, top edge rough trimmed, others deckled. Volume 1 contains the stamp-size engraved bookplate of H.Guy Bookseller & Stationer High Street Chelmsford to the pastedown, signature of Thomas Wright, Camden Park at head of half-title. Thomas Wright (1810-1877) was an English antiquarian and writer. He helped to found the British Archaeological Association and the Percy, Camden and Shakespeare Societies. He was a great scholar, but will be remembered as an industrious antiquary and the editor of many relics of the Middle Ages. All three volumes contain at the head of the title-page, an old, if not contemporary ownership signature of what looks like Eliza Maria Eldridge, Greenwoods. Covers worn, slightly soiled and scuffed, rubbed with front covers loose but holding, spinestrips chipped and cracked, 2" at spine head of vol. 1 and 1" of vol. 2 missing, it appears that pieces of the spinestrips of vols. 2 & 3 have been re-glued, edges dusty, interiors clean and bright. Overall, a very good set of the first edition, first issue. [Todd & Bowden 167Aa].
