Sobre este artículo

Hollywood CA: Delmar Watson. Near Fine in Very Good dj. (c.1975). First Edition. Hardcover. [light shelfwear to book along bottom edge; the jacket shows a bit of wear along top and bottom edges, short closed tear at top of front panel, short but somewhat ragged closed tear and associated minor creasing at bottom of front panel]. (B&W photographs) This copy has been INSCRIBED and SIGNED on the front endpapers by editor Delmar Watson, and additonally SIGNED (some with short inscriptions) by seven other individuals, including four of Delmar's five brothers -- Coy Watson Jr., Harry R. Watson, Garry Watson, and Bobs Watson -- and his three sisters, Vivian, Gloria, and Louise, the latter of which has added a brief note and another inscription on page 39, on a photo of herself as a small child. A mostly-photographic chronicle of the Watson family's photographic enterprise, focusing (pun intended) primarily on news events rather than Hollywood-centric subjects. Delmar Watson was one of the sons of Coy Watson, brother of George R. Watson, the paterfamilias of the clan and the founder of its photographic business. Coy Sr. pursued a career as an actor, and although his kids all eventually joined their uncle Delmar in the photo racket, as children they were one of the best-known kid thespian clans during the Thirties and Forties. (The Watsons played four of Governor "Happy" Hopper's kids in the memorable dinner-table scene in MR. SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON, for instance.) In reference to the six nephews, the introduction explains that "during the 1940's and 50's, there was a Watson on four of the five Los Angeles metropolitan daily newspapers. And during the 1950's and 1960's, several of them recorded the city's foibles from behind television cameras." ****NOTE that additional postage charges will be assessed for international shipping of this moderately heavy book; if this concerns you, please contact us for a shipping quote before placing your order.**** Signed by Associated .
