Octavo. 354, [colophon and publisher's ads] pp. Publisher's mottled gray parchment (perhaps to lend a grimy city feel), horizontal red rules, black cover and spine lettering,. Some sunning to spine and bodrd extremities else a very good copy. Hergesheimer's reputation fluctuated wildly in his own lifetime, from a peak of acclaim and popularity in the 1920s to almost total obscurity by the time of his death. This is a gathering of short stories.
