Commissioned jointly by the New York Philharmonic and Kölnmusik and the Orchestre National de Lyon, Through the Ancient Valley was first performed on 14 March 2001 by the New York Philharmonic with Kurt Masur conducting and Yo-Yo Ma as soloist; Mr. Ma was also soloist in the first performances in France and Germany. "Both [of Danielpour's] cello concerti... embrace dualities. In Through the Ancient Valley (2000), several of these are specific to the work and are suggested by the title. There was a literal valley through which ancient travelers passed from East to West. This trade route, in use for about 1,500 years beginning in the second century B.C., is part of ancient history, thus one dichotomy that Danielpour examines is that of ancient versus modern eras. In addition, the valley represents the physical distance between East and…

Los Angeles. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Soft cover. Very Good/No Jacket. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. An original typescript screenplay called "The Anthem Sprinters" based on his 1963 short story. It was filmed in 1992 for the Ray Bradbury Theater television series. Runners compete to see who can exit the theater fastest during the few seconds between the end of a film and the start of the Irish National Anthem. 1905. Good +. Signed 3-page typescript of a agreement of sale between the American Baptist Publication Society and John Wanamaker. The American Baptist Publication Society sold to John Wanamaker the Crozier Building at 1420 and 1422 Chestnut St., Philadelphia, for $900,000. The Crozier Building was designed by Frank Miles Day & Brother and was added to the Philadelphia Register of Historic Places in 1980. American merchant John Wanamaker (1838-1922) had made $1.5 million in profits and interest from his stores in Philadelphia and New York in 1904, suggesting that his acquisition of the Crozier Building was an investment. The Crozier Building has continued to function as a successful office building to this day. In Good+ Condition: chipping at edges; loss of lower corner of first page, with minor loss of text; separating along some of the 2 horizontal creases in each page; signatures are clean and intact.
