This work introduced the word " Robot " into the global languages. This fantastic melodrama tells the story of the world's repopulation with artificial beings, that is, Robots. "It is a weird drama, a sort of socialistic satire, into which all sorts of symbolic meanings may be read by the spectator possessed of an active an sympathetic imagination." - Burns Mantle. Was Capek a prophet? How is it looking now, a century latery? Ironically, also remarkd here is Elmer Rice's play, "The Adding Machine", a company replaces its bookkeeper with an adding machine - with horrifing results.
