LAWSON, Robert. Rabbit Hill. NY: The Viking Press, 1944. 8vo, 128pp. Gray cloth pictorially stamped in light blue. Pictorial endpapers; half-tone illustrations throughout. Light rubbing to spine ends and corners, fixed endpapers discolored from binder's glue, faint traces of hand-soiling in margins of a few pages, else a clean, bright copy in original color pictorial dust jacket (a few small chips and tears, particularly to top of front panel and spine ends, slight sunning to upper edge, no medal affixed). Signed by the author/artist, Caldecott and Newbery Medalist Robert Lawson.
First edition. 1945 Newbery Medal Winner! It has been a while since Folks lived in the Big House, and an even longer time has passed since there has been a garden at the House. All the animals of the Hill are very excited about the new Folks moving in, and they wonder how things are going to change. It's only a matter of time before the animals of the Hill find out just who is moving in, and they may be a little bit surprised when they do. Lawson remains the only person to ever win both a Newbery and Caldecott Medal.
