Intended for downed fliers and seamen in WW II this book utilizes navigation methods used for centuries by the Polynesians. (I never understood how "downed fliers" could make use of such a cumbersome package.) Gatty won fame as Wiley Post's navigator on his around-the-world flight in 1931. With folding map, tables, and ruler intact. Very good - fine condition in lightly worn illustrated slipcase, and scarce thus.. 19.5 cm. (4), 152 pp. b/w plates, folding map with spot color and star chart on verso, folding tables.
